Answers

What is a DIY HotSpot/ HotSpot in a Box?

It is the means to allow people to access the Internet at the location you place it, once they have purchased a package which gives them airtime.

How does it work?

It creates a WiFi network separate from your home Broadband Wifi network, which keeps your home computers secure and separate from the public traffic.

How does somebody buy internet access?

If somebody wants to connect to the Internet, they simply look for the WiFi network 'WiFi Hotzone' and connect their laptop or phone to it. The network checks whether they have already signed up for a package; if not, they are redirected to a Buy Now page. Once they have bought access, they are connected immediately.

What will a user of my HotSpot see?

Your HotSpot will become part of the UK-wide 'WiFi Hotzone' network automatically. A user connecting to your HotSpot will be directed to www.wifi-hotzone.com to log in.

How much do I get?

The amount of revenue you make will depend on the number of people who purchase an access package through one of your HotSpots. You make 25% of any such sale.

When do I get paid?

The account you nominate will be credited once every three months, for revenue accrued up to one working month before the payment date. For example, you would be paid on the 1st January for revenue accrued between 1st September to 31st November.

How do I connect two HotSpots together?

As long as you have one HotSpot always connected to your Broadband router, then any other HotSpots you have should Mesh automatically, as long as they have power and are within range.

My HotSpots are not meshing... what can I do?

  1. Check that all your HotSpots have power, and that at least one is connected directly to a Broadband router.
  2. Check that you have Internet access through the router.
  3. Move the HotSpots closer to one another; perhaps they are out of range.

If all else fails, contact DIY HotSpot support and we will help you sort it out.
